I've seen everyone of Kiah's games since she joined the program. I saw her take that three and make it. It was a good thing I was sitting down. As you stated, that was the first 3 she's taken in a game, even though it was only a scrimmage. This past April, she said she was going to work on various aspects of her game over the summer, especially on the offensive end. If she can become a threat from mid-range, that will boost her confidence, increase her scoring average as well as force other teams to take her seriously and guard her more closely (and not sag off) which will open up one of the more prolific shooters. Kiah's time has come. The starting post position is hers. Don't be surprised to see a Kiah Stokes you've never seen before. Remember, she averaged 26 points a game as a senior at LINN-MARR High School, and was named Miss Iowa, so scoring is not new to her. She was never asked to be a scorer the past 3 years. Geno had plenty of pistols, he needed someone to block shots and get rebounds, and spell Dolson from time to time. Dolson averaged 12.6 points and 7 rebounds a game last year. Kiah can easily match those numbers. It will probably take Stokes several games to get used to being a starter, and really get comfortable blending into the flow of the game. Because her role has changed a slight adjustment is needed. Once she does, she'll be fine. She'll produce on BOTH ends of the court. She runs the floor very well. Don't be surprised if Kiah becomes a 15/13 player for the Huskies. I love the smell of UConn women's basketball in the morning. Go Huskies.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
