Maya Moore honored by USBWA

UConn's Maya Moore added the United States Basketball Writers' national player of the year award to her growing list of awards. It's the second time she has won this award. The Huskies were shut out of the other two major awards as Baylor's Kim Mulkey and Odyssey Sims were named the coach and freshman of the year.

Stanford with 2 All-Americans defeats UConn with 1 All-American in December and Vanderveer wins 1 Coach of the Year award.

Baylor with 1 All-American loses to UConn with 1 All-American in November and Mulkey wins 1 Coach of the Year award.

Yup, that all makes sense. All that we need now is for Pat Summitt to win 1 Coach of the Year award.

Congratulations to Maya Moore on another great season. All the incoming awards are well deserved. Hope you wrap up your brilliant career by leading UConn to its 3rd straight NCAA championship.

On second thought, winning the championship again might be a bad thing for UConn returning players and incoming players. Auriemma might decide to play only 5 players next season to make it fairer for opposing coaches.

California 6'3" sophomore DeNesha Stallworth has been released and will transfer. She was an All Pac-10 media selection and averaged 13.3 points per game.

Increasing the UConn roster to 13 to 15 players might get Auriemma the Coach of the Year award. It worked for Tara VanDerveer [14 players] and Kim Mulkey [14 players].

At the start of the 2012-13 season, UConn will have 6'5" Stefanie Dolson, 6'3" Breanna Stewart, and 6'2" Morgan Tuck. Another couple players 6'3" and taller could not hurt, right?

Good luck UConn in the Final Four. Hope the Huskies defeat Notre Dame by a large enough margin so that Heather Buck, Lauren Engeln, and Michala Johnson can play 1 minute.
