UConn finally back at Gampel Pavilion

Since dispatching Boston University and Monmouth with incredible ease on Nov. 22 and 23 UConn has played eight games in seven different arenas and just one of those games happened to be at the Huskies' on-court facility.

Well, UConn is back at Gampel Pavilion tonight hosting a struggling Houston team.

"It is a good feeling," UConn sophomore forward Morgan Tuck. "You come here to play in front of Connecticut fans and it is good to play at Gampel and then you go to Bridgeport  and see the other Connecticut fans that we have that can't come to every game. It feels good to be back home. We have been on the road a lot and I think we need to regroup at home and that is what these games are for."

As Tuck mentioned, after playing Houston the Huskies will play Temple on Saturday at noon at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport. The game is nearing sell-out status.

A quirk of the remaining schedule is that after tonight's game UConn will play as many games in the state of Texas during the rest of the regular season as it will at Gampel Pavlion.

SORRY, TIERNEY
When I was down at the Central Florida game I reported that freshman walk-on Tierney Lawlor was sporting a bit of a shiner under her right eye and that it was senior guard Bria Hartley who was the one responsible. I forgot to ask Bria about it after the Memphis game but finally remembered to bring up the subject after yesterday's practice.

"It was a mistake," Hartley said. "We were running offense and she was defending me. I went to pass the ball and hit her right in the eye and I kind of felt bad. My finger hurt too. I kind of hit her hard."
