UConn's Jefferson a candidate for Staley Award
UConn junior Moriah Jefferson is a candidate for the Dawn Staley Award, which is presented to the best guard in the country.
Jefferson leads the Huskies with 97 assists and steals and ironically she will face off against Staley, who is the head coach at South Carolina, at the much anticipate No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown on Feb. 9.
The winner of the award will be announced during the Final Four.
Here's the list of candidates while also includes Iona senior Damika Martinez, a native of Meriden who is averaging 24.9 points per game as a senior for the Gaels.
