"Awkward" night for relatives of UConn's Kia Nurse

While the fact that former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb has received plenty of attention since Kia Nurse arrived at UConn, it should be noted that McNabb is not actually a blood relative of Nurse. His wife, however, is but the connections for tonight's UConn/Syracuse game go even deeper.

Raquel Nurse played at Syracuse from 1994-98 so she could have conflicting emotions watched her niece play in the national championship game against the team she played for in her college days.

Kia Nurse was born two days before Syracuse's regular-season home finale during Raquel's sophomore season so obviously she doesn't have first-hand memories of her aunt's time with the Orange.

"We knew about it," Nurse said. "We watched some film on her and it was funny."

So what does Kia think of her aunt's state of mind fro tonight's championship game?

"Awkward, that is the only thing I could think of," Kia Nurse said. "They will be cheering for me, they are going to be Kia Nurse fans in addition to being Syracuse fans."

UCONN IS IN MEGAN WALKER'S TOP FOUR
According to the Richmond Times Dispatch, Megan Walker has narrowed her list of schools to UConn, Notre Dame, Texas and Virginia.

The 6-foot-1 Walker, considered to be the top recruit in the Class of 2017, averaged 25 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals as a sophomore at Monacan High in Richmond, Virginia. She did her best work against Virginia Group 6A champion Cosby with a 50-point game on Feb. 5 and a 37-point, 10-steal contest on Jan. 4.
