Another honor for Stevens
St. John's senior forward Da'Shena Stevens, a former Trinity Catholic star, has been named the BIg East's Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She will be officially announced as the winner at a press conference between today's sessions at the Big East tournament.
Yesterday Stevens was one of two winners of the Big East's Sportsmanship Award and was a second-team All-Big East selection.
SWAN SONG FOR SEYMORE?
While he did not come out and say the words "retirement" or "fired", Providence coach Phil Seymore sounded very much like a coach he thought he was not coming back in the press conference following the Friars' 57-47 loss to Syracuse in the Big East tournament.
He was talking in either the past or future tense about his players making pretty much everybody in the room take notice of what seemed like a farewell approach.
