Report: Anne Donovan to be named Connecticut Sun coach

According to a report on The Day of New London site, Anne Donovan has been hired as the new head coach of the WNBA's Connecticut Sun.

Donovan has had four WNBA head coaching stints beginning in 2000 with the Indiana Fever. She coached the Charlotte Sting in 2001 and 2002 before taking over in Seattle from 2003-07. She coached the New York Liberty from 2009-2010 before leaving to become the head coach at Seton Hall. She won the WNBA title in 2004, ironically beating Connecticut in the championship series. She had 167-150 career WNBA coaching record.

Donovan was also the head coach of the United States team which won the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics. One of her assistant coaches was former Connecticut Sun coach Mike Thibault.

The Sun have set up a press conference for tomorrow at 3 p.m. to make Donovan's hiring official.
