Gillom named Connecticut Sun assistant coach

Jen Gillom, a former head coach with the Minnesota Lynx in 2009 and Los Angeles Sparks in 2010 and 2011, was hired as an assistant coach with the WNBA's Connecticut Sun on Monday.

She was an assistant coach with the Washington Mystics last year and was an assistant coach on Geno Auriemma's U.S. Olympic staff as well.

“I am super excited to be working with Jennifer,” Sun coach Anne Donovan said in a statement. “Our connection goes back to the 1988 Olympic team when we played together. Jennifer brings a wealth of experience to our team. She won a gold medal recently as an assistant coach in London, and she has WNBA head coaching experience. She will be a huge asset to our organization.”

A 2009 inductee into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, Gillom brings extensive experience to Connecticut as both a player and coach.

“I am very pleased to be joining a top notch organization and a well-respected coach and person in Anne Donovan,” Gillom said in a statement. “I have a good rapport with many of the players and look forward to a successful season.”
