Big East goes out in style
The glory days of the Big East will end at season's end and what a finale it will be.
With the divorce between the football and basketball programs to become a reality at season's end and with Notre Dame, Syracuse and Pittsburgh heading into the ACC next season, we are moving into a new world but there will be one last time to celebrate the dominance of the Big East with three conference teams in the Final Four.
It is hardly a surprise that UConn and Notre Dame are headed to New Orleans and yet another national semifinal showdown but Louisville's run to the Final Four is truly a shocker. The Cardinals followed up the stunning upset of overall No. 1 seed Baylor with a win over eight-time national champion Tennessee.
Now Louisville faces California in the first national semifinal on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. with the UConn/Notre Dame game to follow likely around 9 p.m.
