UConn's Dolson wins Senior CLASS Award
The honors continue to pour in for UConn senior center Stefanie Dolson.
A day after being named one of three finalists for the WBCA Defensive Player of the Year award, Dolson was named the women's basketball winner of the Senior CLASS Award which recognizes not only on the court success but also performance in the classroom and work within the community.
Dolson, a Dean's list student, was also involved in a host of charity events in her four years at UConn.
"I’m extremely honored and I know my family will be so proud and excited,” Dolson said in a statement. “This award is special because it recognizes more than just basketball and celebrates what student-athletes also do in the classroom and in the community. I take a lot of pride in being a leader on this team, so I’m very happy to be recognized.”
STEWART A FINALIST FOR HONDA AWARD
UConn sophomore forward Breanna Stewart was named one of five finalists for the Honda Award, joining Baylor's Odyssey Sims, Alyssa Thomas of Maryland, Kayla McBride of Notre Dame and Stanford's Chiney Ogwumike.
Stewart is the only underclassman on the list and all of the Final Four teams are represented with finalists.
