Bird named MVP of Russian Cup
Former UConn star Sue Bird was named the MVP after leading UMMC Ekaterinburg to the Russian Cup title.
Bird had nine points in the championship as Ekaterinburg defeated Nadezhda 92-72 and had 14 points and 6 assists in a semifinal win over Dynamo Kursk. Former Connecticut Sun forward Sandrine Gruda had 39 points in the two games for Ekaterinburg.
