PRE-GAME PRIMER

The fans are slowly starting to file in. I would have to think the nasty weather to hit the northeast in the last day and a half will keep more than a few people away. The ones who did turn out just gave the Huskies the typical chilly reception with a chorus of boos when UConn came onto the court a couple minutes ago.

A few numbers to crunch as game time approaches. UConn is 130-8 in its last 138 Big East regular season games and four of the losses have come to Rutgers.

UConn has not allowed an opponent to shoot better than 50 percent from the floor in 179 games dating back to Mar. 8, 2004 when Boston College shot 63 percent in the semifinals of the 2004 Big East tournament in the Eagles' 73-70 win.

UConn coach Geno Auriemma just came out at 7:09 p.m. to a few catcalls from the Rutgers student band.

Rutgers just began its Senior Night festivities, honoring its three student managers as well as Kia Vaughn and Heather Zurich. As a sign of respect, the entire UConn team is sitting in their seats taking in the ceremony. Or maybe Auriemma just wants to make sure that Vaughn, who has historically saved her best for UConn, is actually leaving Rutgers at season's end.

SELECT COMPANY
UConn has lost eight Big East regular season games in the last eight seasons and four have come to Rutgers. In the last 11 meetings, UConn has won six times and Rutgers has registered five victories.

Rutgers is the last thing standing between the Huskies and the program's fifth undefeated regular season. Since the NCAA began governing the sport in 1981, 12 Division I teams have posted undefeated regular seasons and UConn has four of them. Here is a breakdown.
