Some winning streak talk

With all the buzz surrounding UConn closing in the NCAA basketball record of 88 straight games set by UCLA men's program from 1971-74, the Huskies' home winning streak has flown under the radar.

Apparently the rules on what is a home game has changed since UConn tied Tennessee's 69-game home winning streak from 2000-04 because postseason games on the Huskies' home court counted towards the home winning streaks.

UConn women's basketball SID Pat McKenna and the Big East's Director of Communications and women's basketball contact Sarah Naggar have been working to get some clarification from the NCAA office on whether UConn's NCAA tournament games at Gampel Pavilion and Big East tournament games at the XL Center count as home games. They have been told that they do not. As a result, the home streak is at 62 heading into tonight and if the Huskies keep winning, a record 70th straight win would be on the line when UConn plays Oklahoma on Feb. 14 at the XL Center.
