Sneaker drive at Gampel

UConn is encouraging fans to bring old sneakers to Saturday's game against DePaul as part of its Sneaker Recycling Drive.

Here is the release

The UConn Athletics initiative program, Husky Honor, along with EcoHusky, EcoHouse & Office of Environmental Policy will be having a Sneaker Recycling Drive this Saturday, February 5th, at the Women’s Basketball game against DePaul (2 p.m. start time). Donations will go towards the Nike Reuse-a-Shoe program in which sneakers are used to make athletic and playground surfaces. Since 1990, 25 million pairs of shoes have been recycled and used as athletic and playground surfaces around the world.

Please bring an old pair of sneakers this Saturday and be a part of a great cause! All items will be collected as patrons enter Gampel Pavilion.
