Former UConn star and current Connecticut Sun center Tina Charles was named the WNBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Week as she led the WNBA with a 28.5 scoring average and 63.5 field-goal percentage and was third with an average of 11 rebounds per game in leading Connecticut to wins over Washington and Chicago. This is the second time Charles received the honor in her career.

Candice Dupree of the Phoenix Mercury was the Western Conference Player of the Week beating out a strong field of candidates including former UConn All-American Sue Bird of the Seattle Storm.
