Report: Diamond DeShields commits to North Carolina

ESPN HoopGurlz is reporting that UConn recruiting target Diamond DeShields has committed to North Carolina.

DeShields, a 6-foot-1 wing from Norcross, Ga., is considered to be among the top prospects in the Class of 2013. She has made a couple of visits to UConn including a memorable one when she jumped onto the floor for a dancing contest during UConn's First Night festivities.

That's what happens when Geno plays 6 in MM 2012 and 7 in MM 2012.

Won't be surprised to see 6 or 7 in MM 2013.

A 1 or 0 class of 2013 averages out the 2012 class and gives UConn another thin bench.

"I felt at North Carolina I can be myself on and off the court," DeShields said.

Too many rules at UConn?

Deshields, Reimer, and Mavunga off the board. Russell next.

Geno and CD can now recruit the Banks, Engelns, Johnsons, and Bucks of the 2013 class, without anyone questioning why they signed practice players.

And they can focus their efforts on attempting to sign 3 Top 30 players in the 2014 class.

Diamond’s 2 *weeks* of recruiting landed a *better* class than the 2 *years* Geno spent recruiting Stewart, Tuck, and Jefferson.
