Chong, Calhoun put on a show
According to tweets from The Journal News and MSG Varsity, UConn signee Saniya Chong and UConn Class of 2014 recruiting target Sierra Calhoun had quite the impressive duel tonight.
Chong had 29 of her 46 points in the fourth quarter as host Ossining defeated Calhoun and Christ the King 89-84. Calhoun countered with 30 points (half of them coming on a 15 for 15 performance from the free-throw line), eight rebounds, five assists and five steals. Chong also had seven rebounds, 12 assists, four steals and two blocked shots.
Unfortunately since I am still at Gampel Pavilion, I was unable to make it up to the game but UConn coach Geno Auriemma was among those in attendance.
Ossining coach Dan Ricci said that he and Chong are planning to make the ride into Storrs for tomorrow's UConn/Notre Dame game. I haven't heard whether Calhoun will also be on hand tomorrow but Class of 2014 recruiting target Brianna Turner is planning to be here according to her father.
