UConn commit Dangerfield delivers in the clutch

With her future college coach watching from the stands, UConn Class of 2016 commit Crystal Dangerfield scored six of her team-high 18 points during a decisive 11-2 fourth-quarter run as defending Tennessee AAAA state champion Blackman High defeated Mt. Juliet in the quarterfinals.

UConn Geno Auriemma made the trip down to Tennessee to see one of the two high school juniors committed to the Huskies in action.

Next up for Blackman is a semifinal matchup against Morristown West on Friday with the state title game scheduled for Saturday.

FIBA AMERICAS DRAW ANNOUNCED
UConn freshman Kia Nurse figures to have another busy summer playing for the Canadian national team.

The highlight of the summer will be the FIBA Americas Championship for Women being played in Edmonton.

Canada will play in Group A and opens play against Puerto Rico on Aug. 8. Canada will also play Chile on Aug. 10, Dominican Republic on Aug. 11 and wraps up preliminary round play on Aug. 13.

The U.S., by virtue of winning the FIBA World Championship for Women title, has already qualified for the 2016 Olympics and doesn't need to play in the tournament to earn an Olympic berth.
