UConn recruiting target lives up to the hype

There's a reason why UConn recruiting target Lauren Cox is rated as the best player in the Class of 2016.

Cox, a 6-foot-4 forward from Flower Mound, Tex., had a very strong regular season but what she has done in the postseason has been just remarkable.

The capper - up to this point - came earlier today when she had 25 points, 21 rebounds, eight assists and four blocks to lead Flower Mound to a 53-50 win over Plano West, a team Flower Mound lost to twice during the regular season.

I was at the first meeting of the season between the two and Plano West, led by fellow top Class of 2016 recruit Natalie Chou and Harvard commit Sydney Skinner. Plano West won 70-47 and that score makes it seem like the game was closer than it actually was. Obviously since that game not only has Cox raised the level of her game but her teammates have done the same thing.

Now Cox and Flower Mound is headed to the Texas state tournament for the first time when they face Skyline on Friday in the 6A semifinals.
