UConn signee Samuelson is Naismith Player of Year
I'd say another day another award for UConn incoming freshman but it might be more accurate to say another hour and another accolade for the sweet-shooting Californian.
The 6-foot-3 senior at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif., was named the winner of the Naismith girls; high school player of the year beating out four other finalists including her future UConn teammate Napheesa Collier.
Samuelson, who is averaging 29.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game as a senior, was also named the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of California earlier today.
