Special day on tap for pair of UConn signees

UConn incoming freshmen Mikayla Coombs and Megan Walker will look to wrap up their high school careers in glorious fashion on Friday.

Coombs will lead the Wesleyan School against rival Holy Innocents' in the Georgia 1A Private Schools title game at 2 p.m.

Coombs is averaging 16.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 4.2 steals per game for 26-5 Wesleyan with two of the losses coming to Holy Innocents' although Wesleyan topped their rivals in the regional final. In the quarterfinal and semifinal wins she averaged 25.5 points, 9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.5 steals per game.

Walker's Monacan High School team will face King's Fork as it goes for a third straight Virginia 4A state championships on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Walker has averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3 steals in the first two state playoff games. A win would enable Walker to end her high school career while leading her team to a 53-game winning streak.

Both games are available on the NFHS Network (a subscription may be required)
