UConn's Breanna Stewart Academic All-District pick

UConn junior forward Breanna Stewart was among five players named to the Division 1 Academic All-District 1 (including New England and New York schools) team.

Stewart, the Huskies' leading scorer with an average of 16.7 points per game, has a 3.33 grade point average in an individualized major focusing in on sports in society.

Stewart is on pace to record more than 100 assists and 50 steals and 50 blocks for the second year in a row. Maya Moore is the only other UConn player to reach all of those marks in the same season and she did it as a freshman and sophomore.

Former UConn star Tina Charles has accepted an invitation to play in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game being played on February 13 at Madison Square Garden.

Fellow WNBA stars Skylar Diggins and Shoni Schimmel as well as Little League pitching phenom and unabashed UConn women's  basketball fan Mo'ne Davis have also been selected to play in the game.
