UConn finishes 17th in Capital One Cup

UConn, aided by the field hockey team's run to the NCAA quarterfinals and the women's basketball teams appearance in the national semifinals, finished 17th in the Capital One Cup standings which was won by Stanford.

Stanford finished the year with a total 121 points and Texas A&M finished with 112 in the competition where schools receive points based on their finishes at the NCAA tournaments in all sports.

UConn finished with 34 points.

LEEDHAM NETS 14 IN EUROBASKET LOSS
Former Cheshire Academy star Johannah Leedham had 14, two rebounds, three assists and three steals in 24 minutes to help Great Britain to a near upset of Lithuania at the EuroBasket championships.

Great Britain falls to 0-3 in Group E and will need to beat Turkey on Saturday and Russia on Monday to advance to the quarterfinals.

Leedham is averaging 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.8 steals in 20 minutes of action in the first four games.

Former UConn star Svetlana Abrosimova had six points and three rebounds in Russia's 72-51 loss to Belarus.
