UConn going after AAC title tonight

All that stands between UConn and its 19th conference tournament title is a Louisville team that the Huskies could very well see in the Elite Eight.

For UConn's seniors, there would be no better way to go into the NCAA tournament than a win over the second-seeded and third-ranked Cardinals.

"We talk about this periodically," UConn coach Geno Auriemma said. "You don't really get caught up in the name of things, because that, as we saw, can change.  If it's a preseason tournament at home, if it's a Thanksgiving tournament on the road, if it's a conference tournament.  We have traditionally done pretty well in tournaments.

"It's appropriate, I think, that we're in the finals. I was hoping we would be. I wanted us to be. We had to prove over the first five months that we're the best team in the league. It will be the first one and hopefully it's the first of many."

It will be the swan song for seniors Stefanie Dolson and Bria Hartley who were members of Big East tournament championship teams as freshmen and sophomores.

"I haven't really thought  about it but it is sad that it is kind of coming to an end," Dolson said. "It is a cool thing to think about that this is our last conference tournament but it is kind of sad that it is a different tournament but the AAC is great and after this we have the NCAA tournament."
