Marquette coach breaks down UConn/ND game

Since Marquette has played - and lost to - both UConn and Notre Dame, I asked Marquette coach Terri Mitchell on Thursday's Big East women's basketball teleconference to give her take on what to look for when the teams meet Saturday at 2 p.m. in a game being televised nationally by CBS.

"Both teams have multiple scorers," Mitchell said. "Obviously the 'x' factor will always be with UConn's Maya Moore. I still think she is the best player in the country and she just has that intangible thing about winning. The mystique of UConn's winning is something you have to overcome but for both squads I think it is going to be an exciting game up and down the court, they both can run. I think that game is going to come down to who is going to make the defensive stands because they both can score, in every position they can score. Who is going to make multiple stops back to back to take that lead and I think once that lead is taken it will be hard to overcome.

Notre Dame coach Muffet McGraw confirmed that Saturday's game is sold out.

"We've had a couple of sellouts, we have a great atmosphere in our gym all the time so I think when have a highly ranked team coming in everybody gets a little more excited," McGraw said.
