UConn signee Megan Walker among semifinalists for Naismith honor

UConn incoming freshman Megan Walker is among 10 semifinalists for the Naismith national high school player of the year award.

Walker is averaging 25.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game for undefeated Monacan (Va.) High School.

She is joined by Tennessee signees Rennia Davis, Anastasia Hayes and Evina Westbrook, Texas commits Reliah Boothe and Chasity Patterson, Texas A&M recruit Chennedy Carter, Louisville signee Dana Evans, UCLA signee Michaela Onyenwere and Stanford commit Kiana Williams on the list of candidates for one of the prestigious national player of the year awards.

Five finalists will be announced on February 21.

UConn's top scorer Katie Lou Samuelson is one of seven winners of the award who would play at UConn joining Tamika Williams, Diana Taurasi, Ann Strother, Maya Moore, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Breanna Stewart.
