Norman stepping in

With Kara Wolters home sick, Wayne Norman will be filling in as the color commentator on the UConn radio network for today's Big East quarterfinal against South Florida.

The best news from the first of the four quarterfinals was that Notre Dame freshman Erica Solomon was back on the court. Solomon went down with an apparent knee injury in a second-round win over St. John's on Saturday.

While the Connecticut Sun was well represented at the EuroLeague Women All-Star game, there were no UConn representatives. Word is the powers that be for Spartak Moscow Region did not want to have their stars Lauren Jackson and former UConn star Diana Taurasi to take part in the festivities so Taurasi was a no show.

Becky Hammon of the San Antonio Silver Stars had 24 points as Europe beat the Taurasi-less Rest of the World team 101-78. Former Connecticut Sun guard Evanthia Maltsi had seven points for Europe. Connecticut Sun teammates Lindsay Whalen and Tamika Whitmore had 11 and 7 points respectively for the Rest of the World.
