PRE-GAME PRIMER

The final buzzer just sounded and it is No. 4 seed Villanova which advanced to the semifinals to play the winner of the Connecticut/South Florida game.

Villanova was 8 for 8 from the free-throw line in the final 2:10 and Laura Kurz had a clutch 3-pointer from the left corner with 3:23 to play to lift the Wildcats to a 58-47 win over Notre Dame.

The crowd just roared as UConn came on the floor for pre-game warmups. The arrival of South Florida just now created perhaps a murmur.

The bottom half of the XL Center is filling up fast and the top sections have a decent number of fans so it looks like it could be a decent crowd.

No truth to the rumor that Tiffany Hayes is already following Jazmine Sepulveda around as South Florida goes through its layup line. That could come in about 15/20 minutes.

As previously mentioned in this blog, Wayne Norman is filling in for an ill Kara Wolters to provide color commentary on the UConn radio network. Wayne's timing is impeccable since much of Connecticut won't be able to watch the game on ESPNU and figure to tune into the radio call of the game.
